« on: April 23, 2007, 08:30:23 pm »
if enough of you guys are interested im looking at buying in resin in bulk im sick of paying over the odds.
however i need a lot to get the price right down. so i dont want to layout £3k+ without somewhere to move them on to.
if your interested let me know by email how many bags you might want and your contact details.
if enough of us want it ill get a load in. my brother runs a courier business so i can get bags shipped at £10 if your having more than one ill get a price depending on how many.

im obviously gonna make a few quid on each bag but it will still be miles cheaper through me!!

Jeff,

Just a tip, look into it more deeply as you will find yes you will pay vat and on delivery. They will tell you one price and the bill will be different.

Rohm is made in China shipped to France then shipped to the UK, so the cost of shipment out weighs the actual cost of goods. But it is cheaper than producing it in the UK , that is why Purolite has shut production in the UK.

But if he has given you a min order of £3k+ at that price that is a lot of bags to shift. Then you have cost of collecting money etc which adds 2% of the cost.

I know this all inside out plus suppliers so not trying to put you off but be careful as you do not want to end up with unwanted stock. The biggest problem with resin is the added shipping costs but you will never get around that as resin comes from the far east.

Jeff,

I they are selling it to your door ( goods + vat + delivery ) all inclusive at that price then that is a good offer, let me know.

Malc,

Dowex is just bagged in the USA.

James,

125l tank - £59 + £14 delivery + vat = £90.50
175l tank - £69 + £14 delivery + vat = £100.50

you wont get rohm and hass for 40 per sack including vat and delivery

the price break is 5 cubic meters and thats a lot resin and generally on a running purchase order over one year

if you get that for it good for you

i dont think resin is over priced considering the outlay and stock you need on hand

we sell at 59.50 a sack and i think thats fair especially when you are expected to always have it available

Anyone can buy resin at a very cheap price.  It is quite a simple thing to do as long as you can guarantee to the manufacturers that you will buy a pallet at a time (40 sacks of resin) and that you will purchase this on at least a bi-monthly basis.  Now do the maths on that -  £10-12,000 a year + storage & shipping costs!

If resin was a local produce then yes but as it is not then the shipping costs outweigh the actual manufacturing costs.

So example the route of Rohm - raw material ( Tiawan ) ship to manufacturing plant (China ) ship to Europe storage ( France ) ship to supplier ( UK ) ship to end user.

So to get the product to you that's 4 shipments which come to around £25 per bag, you then have 4 profit margins, vat , duty, and bank charges. So overall a bag of resin which is worth around £5 from the start, the additional costs incured bump up the price.

Can you get a better price, no that's why Purolite have stopped producing, costs in Europe are too high, the above route is cheeper.

Trust me there is no supplier that will get a better deal for us, there is a way but that one is for the future.

Why can't it ship straight from China to the UK?

Each country has their own vat, duty rates etc.. The UK is way too high for example beer.

For example I know the UK wavers duty on some countries whereas if the were shipped to another part of Europe they would have to pay duty. China is one of them countries where the levy and duty is different throughout Europe. I presume France is the cheapest and storage costs are too high in the UK.
