If resin was a local produce then yes but as it is not then the shipping costs outweigh the actual manufacturing costs.
So example the route of Rohm - raw material ( Tiawan ) ship to manufacturing plant (China ) ship to Europe storage ( France ) ship to supplier ( UK ) ship to end user.
So to get the product to you that's 4 shipments which come to around £25 per bag, you then have 4 profit margins, vat , duty, and bank charges. So overall a bag of resin which is worth around £5 from the start, the additional costs incured bump up the price.
Can you get a better price, no that's why Purolite have stopped producing, costs in Europe are too high, the above route is cheeper.
Trust me there is no supplier that will get a better deal for us, there is a way but that one is for the future.
