Submersible Pump Q'
« on: April 15, 2007, 04:58:49 pm »
Hi all,
What do you guys use to attach the transfer hose to the submersible pump.
Jubilee clip would rust overe time and contaminate the pure water, do you think a cable tie would be tight enough to hold it on during the pump sequence.
Don't fancy having to fish the pump out of a full tank all the time to re-attach the hose!!

Just a thought, if i do have to fish the pump out of the i.b.c now and then, it would contaminate the water (1,000lt) when put back, Rather than flush the water away is possible to add sterilization/purifying tablets to bring it back as the t.d.s count wouldn't be THAT high...would it?

When you've stopped laughing, comments appreciated.
Particularly on the first point.

Thanks all.

A stainless steel jubilee clip will work just fine. I have had mine on my pump for 6 years now with never a problem.

Appreciate the replies guys...s'steel it is.
Thinking about making a hole in the I.B.C lid to run the hose through then taping around it, sounds a bit Heath Robinson but can't think of another way....is this the best method??

Cheers again.

Spot on!  Always works well but don't use duck tape.  :)

Because it decays and will allow dried powder glue to drop into your IBC.  Use a wide PVC-type tape.

Cheers Alex. Wouldn't have thought of that, saved me a lot of hassle.

Thanks again.
