I treat black top (Knock on wood!!) with power burst. However must try Blitz!!.

The way i treat it is to usually prespray said area at the start, agitate and then continue on cleaner areas. Come back to it then repeat if necessary (which it usually is!!!)

I was also told that mpower was the new Messiah on Black top. However recently cleaned a really dirty "domestic" kitchen carpet. Pre-sprayed with mpower more than normal m/s, agitated and let dwell for at least 20mins. Results were nothing short of abysmal. had to revert back to power burst and it came up a treat.

I must say that im a big fan of mpower on suites and certain carpets but it seems on black top it's pointless.

i have a truck-mount and it's no easier to clean black-top with one than with a portable, it's all down to chemical used and the agitation, you do have more water available for rinsing though.

on black top I find the key is to get the pre-spray really worked in. So I use my rotary with a really stiff brush then 'edge it' I tilt the rotary 90 degrees so the brush is on its side then run across the blacktop. It cuts into the muck. and gets the pre-spray all the way in

not something for a beginner to try, it takes a lot of strength & control

As Mike says the secret is to make sure the pre-spray penetrates the dirt. Maybe a good idea would be to make a black top perforator simililar to the chewing gum perforators. This could be made with a small block of wood with some sharp nails pushed through it.

Mike

Know about tipping a rotary and the cost afterwards on redecoration.

John

What do you recon? This has got to be the bee’s knees for perforation

I'm not a fan of Ashbys, but the wand they supply for chewing gum removal is excellent for this type of task, following a good lane cleaner type, prespray.

Hi All

How do you sort the black top out on a stairs - wouldnt be able to use a rotary machine there to get the prespray in - Is it back to the brush?
Any advice welcomed.

I regularly use the Oreck Orbiter on stairs, prespray with Blitz then agitate with either orange or black brush depending on carpet type prior to extraction, always works for me.
