Hi Guys

I would also like to thank Andy and Judy, its a pleasure to meet like minded people that believe if free information for the betterment of all.

This for me links up with the chats about associations, please let me explain. this FREE course first confirmed that leather cleaning is easy and that restoration is a different mater, needing lots more experience and training. if associations would do the same many new and old cleaners would see the value in investing in basic and ongoing training.

This half day will in the end up having me spend many hundreds of pounds with Andy and Judy on training. which goes back to my point of free membership and making money from training not membership fee. its far better to have everyone in and reading from the "same book" than out doing their own thing trashing the name of our service industry to the public, I refer to people that don't take any training or invest in themselves.

Doug, Dint you think that it would be a great idea to have a place on this forum just for leather cleaning and restoration, where cleaner can post photos of problems and the fixes. this way we can all learn from other experiences? It one thing to talk about problems but it does make a lot of difference when you can see what people are on about.

I was interested in what they said at the show and the repairs etc but is there a market for this type of work to justify the expense.  Id only clean a few suites a year and Ive got leather cleaning on all my marketing.

I once invested in a colour repair course for carpets.  interesting course but zero opportunity to use the new skills.

Mark

I am about to split my marketing between carpets and upholstery, this will hopefully give more space to my message with regards leather plus increasing my share of upholstery cleaning.

As I have said before I think that we will all become specialist cleaners and not just carpet cleaners, if you think about it we are already half way there. with carpets and upholstery. with the choices with floor covering and many homes having more than one bathroom, tile cleaning will have more demand in time.

It hard to offer lots of specialist services just in one advert it looks like jack off all trades, but split it up and you have more room to get a message over.

In time i am going to have a look at the cost in these full colour booklets that we get though our door now advertising local business. how about one just on call the different services that we can provide. in full colour this would look very professional. and if you put vouchers in it people might keep it.

You might even sell space to say window and oven cleaner if you did not provide these services to keep costs down.

it an idea
