Turned to WFP
« on: March 18, 2007, 07:54:52 pm »
Hi guys.
Off to pick up my trolley system next week and cant wait. :)

I see alot of you seem to use IBC tanks and buy them 2nd hand. There is a guy who is selling them on Ebay and he is in my area. The tank was used to hold oil previously so should I avoid or go for it and clean it out?

Also how long would it take to fill the tank whilsy purifing the water and would it be best to go for a white one or black?

Sorry to seem a bit of a dumbo but there will be plenty of more questions like this once i get the freedom trolley home.

 Thank Bob

It is fairly easy to de-grease an IBC. It would just need lots of water and a good de-greasing solution.  Often a second hand IBC supplier will supply you with a suitable solution.  Clear tanks allow you to see what your water level is, black tanks can help prevent UV light from helping your water grow algae (very rare).  Given the option, I would go for one that had held something other than oil.  There are a lot out there that have held sorbitol solution (Wrigley's) or other easy to flush out substances.

Not sure if its had oil in it i would.

What size tank are you going for?

I would go for a 600-650 ltr tank & a 300gpd ro. Thats what i run, that way you will never run out.

I found another lad who is selling one locally which had boat cleaning resin in it.

Would that be ok?

Hi Macc

I have seen Kirsty today and she is on the mend although she still has hardly any voice.  Business as usual from today although any orders/queries will need to be emailed to sales@agardiner.co.uk - there will be no telephone service.  The website is back on line.

Hi Bob

I have no idea what boat cleaning resin consists of I'm afraid!

Not sure mate, if the resin is water bassed it would clean out. Is it not worth going for a new tank? After all you dont want the water getting contaminated & my whole RO from Gardiners including tank to transfer hose came to £620 delivered.

The tank was £158 + vat for a 650ltr.

Bod,

Take a look here too.  I asked this guy the sort of questions you wanted an answer to and collected our IBC last week.  The one we collected was clean and in vgc.

Collected for £50  ;)

Just got mine off e-bay,1000l steam cleaned, and delivered for just over £70. Not worth messing about with cleaning them yourselves when you can get them ready to use at that price. Keep your eye on the net, new ads coming on every day.
