I use these at the end of the reel hose and yes, I do break them sometimes.  I haven't broken any though since I made a hole in a tennis ball and put the hose through it and positioned it next to the flow controller.  It's a tip I picked up on here.
Omnipole do these flow controllers so no need to mess about bidding either.

We use these on the end of the reel hose for controlling flow.We find them good value

Thanks for the replies. think i'll have a look at these. couldnt find them on Omnipoles site though? cant find them anywhere on line either?????

hang it from a carabina on your belt loop, always carry it back to the reel before winding in, then you wont break it.
