Hi All,

Can anyone help me with a problem we have encountered. We run a contract for a large old-style music hall which has solid wooden floors whixch the client wants polished every visit. 

This has created a build up in the corners of the site which wont budge no matter what we do. Any suggestions on how to reduce/eliminate the build up and if there are any equipment/machinery out there that will do the job more effficiently.

a floor should not be polished this often ,but now the damage is done you will need to strip floor back using a floor stripper chemical a rotary floor scrubber and then dry using a wet vac , all edges and corners will need scrubbing by hand untill all previous polish has been removed , following this it will need neutraliseing by scruubbing with water and then wet vacumed again ,when dry and all traces of old polish removed then three coats of floor polish can be applied leaving to dry after each coat.
  If the floor is absorbing all floor polish after this then it may need a floor seal such as bournseal .

When you say polished I take it that you mean buffed

Next time you apply polish after sanding/stripping leave a gap of about 6in depending on area last coat to the edge. But in time it will build up!

you also want a high speed rotary with a beige pad to buff it with in future

hi just a little tip, dont scrub it again after you have sucked up the slurry from the stripping, mop over with hot water and with some viniger in it and use a clean mop not the one you used to strip with, and theres a new product out there now called trouble shooter, made by 3m for the egdes and corners and just scrape off,.
then polish  it should be ok
