Thanks for the email, hope the reply was ok?

I am soley dry system as well, never wanted to use HWE, too many issues for my liking

But as with everything it is training.

i have done some excellent work for hotels, LA's etc.

The dry system is not a maintenence system as most would have you believe. Sadly there will always be a  wedge between the HWE boys and the LM gang.

Mind you, with the water restrictions coming into force and water being a constant issue in the future.....

We used to use host many years ago
I first started carpet cleaning before i went into window cleaning.
We got some excellent results on wool carpets and rugs.
Some carpets would not come up well with the system.

It seems both have their use (you could not use host for cleaning a suite)
What portable WEM would you guys recommend?

Dave,
I have a vivaro and the pro mount 18 fits in there neatly with lots of room for a porty/ sebo- and rotary machine!

One of my biggest regrets is not starting of with all the right gear, if money is not an issue then, don't waste it on one system (the host is not good for really dirty carpets, which there will be many of!) get all the right stuff to start with and it will last you a long time.

NOOOOOO DONT DO IT!!!  Granted, I use a host machine but only as a way of thoroughly working pre-spray into the carpet fibres.

99% of carpet and upholstery you'll be cleaning can be wet cleaned in one way or another. No guess work - That's a trade fact!

If you new to this industry you wont be returning to a portfolio of clients who's carpets you are regularly maintaining (a possibility for the Host system). You will be dealing with mingin' nasty 'orrible carpets until you receive formal training and you pick up idea's on how to get some PROPER clients.

Listen to those who've been in the industry for a while, why repeat our old mistakes.

Water recyling. You're not in the future, you're in the here and now! Let the future produce the equipment to deal with specific cleaning problems IN THE FUTURE.
I'd rather make proper regular money now using enviro friendly wet cleaning methods and adapt when the need arises!

the only thing the host is good for is as per vac, as you wont get better. any looped pile or similar its not that good.

As for the upholstery machine if your going to do leather and lots of it its a good machine for that but too slow for fabric cleaning..........

And i can say that cos i bought into Home'n'Dry in 2000 went HWE the next year

Hi

The wet v dry debate rages on.

Yet to say that worry about the  future and to adapt with it is a little irresponsible IMO.

The shortage of water is all our problem now, now in 5, 10 or however many years it is?

Hosepipe bans are still in effect even with all the wet weather and most of the reserves back to almost normal. We, each of us have a responsibility to save water, use less electricity, etc.

Yes, we all need to earn money for us and our family, I am sure people in america & china and now India feel the same way. Whatever we try to do that is considered Green, or good for the enviroment they cancel out many times over. But, does this mean we should have the same mentality?

For me personally, no it doesn't.
