I am searching for the ultimate traffic lane cleaner.

As a relative newbie I take the advice on this forum very seriously, so I have read through what feels like hundreds of posts on here and have to say that I am still not sure what is the current, best, enviro-friendly one available.

I am getting great results and my customers are chuffed to bits with their carpets when I am finished.
However, there are occasions when the traffic lanes are not coming up as good as I would like.

Is anyone prepared to stick their neck out and say 'this is the holy grail' ... OK maybe a bit far fetched but can someone at least help me by recommending one I can use that is going to make those nasty marks disappear.

You have to realise that sometimes traffic lanes just won't look that good. This is due to fibre degradation especially on synthetics such as poly prop and acrylic. Basically because the fibres are a smooth extrusion they become abraded by the dirt and constant traffic. This results in their brilliance being dulled and also their ability to reflect light which all contributes to the "dinginess".
Most traffic lane cleaners work to a degree as they were designed to do, people have their favourites.
Agitation is also a key to obtaining good results on heavily soiled areas. Pre-spray then brush in with either a carpet brush or a mechanical device. This will ensure a greater soil removal than relying on extraction alone.

I have been using Chemspecs enz-all  since about mid december and can honestly say it has never failed to impress me.

 on carpets it has never let me down.

I started using it in a hydraforce at first but now mix a fresh batch for every job.

for upholstery I use M/S

pardon my lack of knowledge but does'nt high Ph strip out the acid dye blockers used in nylon carpet? so it might clean really well this time  but you're making problems for the next time you visit.

I'm assuming you are doing a burn test on every carpet you clean to test for wool content.

I tried enz al yesterday on some really bad cafetera carpets after you reccomeded me to try, worked superbly , so tried again today on traffic lane in lounge , very pleasing

I burn test every carpet and never use it on wool 

I did'nt say i used it on every carpet, only that everytime i've used it, it was great .

Thanks for the advice folks.

Will try the prochem I think as I have a local supplier who will give me a sample if I ask nicely.

I use a sebo duo to agitate, is this enough?

I agree with John Kelly. If there is excessive or even moderate wear and tear on the traffic lane then no amount of cleaning can restore what has worn away .

Oh yes, Robbie, every particle of soil can be removed (in theory and in practice ) but it will still not look as clean as the rest of the carpet due to the reasons described described by John. "Apparent soiling" is what our friends in the USA call it.
