Multi York 2 Seat Sofa - Help Please
« on: January 08, 2007, 01:39:45 pm »
Went to see a prospective customer today about her Multi York 2 seat sofa.

Tests show that it is Linen - Very fast / bright burn back. (75% sure)

Apart from the back cushion's which have duck feather fillings ( I was going to fibre shampoo those ) all the other areas are foam fillings.

I was also going to vacuum - pres-pay with fabric restorer (prochem) then agitate - dwell time  - then Dry-master with fabric rinse (warm).

Does this system have approval?

Its is all one colour. (see photos)

Thanks

Hi Mark

I cannot for some reason get access to photograph links to this site.

If the linen fabric is self coloured be very careful it may be unbleached  and you will end up with cellulosic browning marks.

If it is a bleached linen then you should be OK but I would still strongly recommend that you leave the finished item at a pH value of 7

Derek,

I did test with a small pressure clamp with multipro / then rinsed. - There were no bad signs and liquid has been spilt previously without any obvious problems.

I am supposed to be cleaning an identical one at the moment.  Same material in a reddish / rust colour.

Taken one cushion away to test-clean because of heavy headgrease.  I have not been able to remove the grease, as it has gone right through & into cushion.

I pre-tested for colour loss & seemed OK, but slight fading has still occurred.  I used M/S &  Acid Rinse.
