Freezing Kit

As this is my first winter of wfp use I experienced everything being frozen this morning.What is the best way to avoid all gear in van freezing up overnight?

Extension lead an heater
I got frozen the other day, heater has been on every night since.

Also gets worse the further north and east you are. (generally)
