I'm a wfp window cleaner and have just bought all the carpet cleaning equipment. I will probably start it next winter.

When it's too wet to clean windows there's always carpet cleaning.

Can't sit at home twidling my thimbs. Need something else to do! ;)

I have a very large client base that I could approach for carpet cleaning.

However, the the following points concern me:

1) Not insured to carry out this line of work.
2) Would need to attend carpet cleaning courses to understand the industry and all the techniques etc..
3) Need to invest in decent equipment to carry out the work.

Looking at all the above I decided to stick to Window Cleaning.

However, on this note, if someone is interested in working alongside me who is an expert in this area then I am happy to talk to you. I would want to see qualifications/references etc.....as I will be doing the introduction and is my Company thats on the chopping block.

You will need to be dominant in the Hampshire area.

email me if your interested info@firstcleanservices.co.uk

Carpet cleaning is in many ways a natural progression from window cleaning.
The one thing you have to be careful of is not to get trapped in the cut price end of the market. Cowboys rent machines from hire shops then knock out  cut price jobs but the carpets aren't properly clean. Known in the trade as "Splash and dash"
My friend does really well, he costs out his jobs at £50 an hour and gets lots of work. His machine cost him £1800 and its the biz.
Switch over to the other half of Clean it up and try to pick up some background knowledge.

Im going to start up carpet cleaning myself in a few months.
I have done carpet cleaning before and used to enjoy it.
Mind you that was about 18 years ago.
So in reality it would be like starting from scratch again.

Im going to sell some of my window cleaning round to buy the equipment.
But before i do that im going to do some course's with ashbys as there fairly local to me.

Eventually i want to move away from window cleaning altogether.

Art,

Carpet cleaners aren't just soft and effeminate, they're boring too.

Remember, when Ian Botham was in the papers for taking drugs and womanising, his wife, when asked what she thought about his behaviour replied, 'Well I could've married someone boring, like 'Barry' the carpet cleaner'.

Don't do it!

i do a lot of carpet cleaning but mostly windows and would have to say i enjoy windows more. Window cleaning if run in a professional manner gives a very good referal base but it is a lot harder to get work than for windows and can be bloody hard boring work. On the plus side as i always have window work i can get pretty good prices for carpet as i don't need the work anyways so i book all the jobs for one day and have what i call a bonus day
do it right though or not at all
