soft/hard water

Does anyone no the tds readings that make it a hard or sort water area? i have a reading here of 350(deff hard water!) but 30 miles up the road a friends reading is about 130 is that a soft water reading?? at what reading does is change from soft to hard?! thanks!!  :)

Broadly speaking,

0 - 100 TDS is soft
100 - 200 is moderatley hard
more than 200 is hard

but 130 is still a pretty low reading, I'd be pleased with that.  We have a 380 reading here in bristol!  Healthy bones and teeth though.
