I have been using Craftex degreaser for wool carpets that have been exposed to dogs, bare feet, fireside soot etc.

I think it works great and is at the right ph level.

The problem is that it foams and I need to use defoamer.

Does anybody know of a product that works as well or better that does not foam?

I have been looking at Hydramaster Greasebreaker ont tinternet, but no info as to weather it is safe on wool....although it says, add to any prespray wich I have my doubts as to mixing different chems!

Any info much appreciated.

Craftex now do a de-foamer no compatible issues as it goes in the waste tank.

Alltec do a traffic lane degreaser, that dosent seem to foam to much, not that sure of it though myself iv been using it for a couple of weeks but still not convinced.

I also got the Hydramaster grease breaker, but cant seem to work out how much to add to the pre-spray as im using a inline sprayer

So iv just been using it as it comes as a spotter, and its nowere near as good as Impact chemicals (pog) from woodbridge imo.

I am yet to find any pre-spray that will deal with all the greasy marks without having to go round and spot a couple by hand after.

I have a gallon of Grease Breaker comming tomorrow to give it a try and test.

I'm told it will not foam due to being a citrus solvent, so should also be safe on wool.

Hi cloverleaf

been reading this with some intrest
when greace is a problem from animal our human contact
i find that dwell time is the most important thing plus agatation
no matter what chemecal you may be useing

so basically if this is a problem the first thing i do after pre vac
prespray and agatate

then start the set up process

if doing a suite and a carpet i would prespray the 3 seatter first and
brush it in

then vac carpet and prespray it and brush in by the time your are finished with the suite the carpet will clean a lot easier since it has got a good dwell time on it.

also if you do all the prespraying and prep on every thing i find its a lot quicker for the exstraction part of the clean

my main cleaning solution is ms, m power

but i would also use ultra pac renavate for the more greacy ones and on
soot problems

to be honest these are the only 2 presprays that i carry a long with veriouse spotters  simple reason is they cover every thing in your path
plus i like  things nice and simple and keep the all import costs down

back to you question i dont have any foaming problems with any of them
all rinceing is done with fresh water our fiber and fabric rince from prochem
as for defoamer only on the 1001 carpets

Hi Cloverleaf/Red Carpet
We use HM Grease Breaker on all greasy jobs.
Using a hydroforce/inline sprayer we add 100ml of Grease Breaker per litre to your chosen pre-spray.

We find it to be an excellent product.

Cheers Steve, i will try that now i just didnt know how much to put in.

How did you decide on using 100ml? was it trial and error or is that the recommended ratio?

Iv changed the tip on my hydroforce so it dilutes at 32/1 not the normal 10/1, so i guess i should put about 300ml in

Theres a pack of different tips you can get that you change, to change the dilution ratio.


That way you can change the tips for different pre-sprays. And still fill the container neat, otherwise you have to dilute the spray in the container.

Just means i dont have to fill up so often.
