I have a block of work that is usually a right pain this time of year. It gets covered in bug poo/fly spots call it what you will. Normally even using a scraper isn't a guarantee of shifting it. This time round, after about 6 months of wfp there seems to be hardly any on the windows. Are bugs less attracted to glass that doesn't have detergent residue on it? However when I do find some it is still fairly hard to shift with the brush. Has anyone stuck a washing-up pad to the side of their brush for extra cleaning strength?

Duct tape a strip washer wrapped in steel wool to the reverse of the pole and flip round to prescrub. Make sure its 0000 grade, no coarser

what we do is put a little fairy on the brush head then work in then soon as all soap gone rinse off works every time.

well what i do is give it a good going over and if it does not work then i come back to it letting the water do the work and 9 times out of 10 when when i go over again it comes of, had not thought about the washing up liq bit before but you have to be carefully as that is what it is all about pure water.

Yes it is about pure water not sure what system your using but we have tucker and we have a soap dispenser attatched to the in line so you can acctually use soap tablets because even pure water will not get everything off the main reason for pure water is not just the cleaning any water can clean glass its the fact it evaporates with out having to dry it especially if your working 70feet up, also because we also use a valve system for cladding etc you have to use the soap.

Don't do it, it will scratch the window.
Are you working near farms or golf courses? This is where its most evident, otherwise known as shotgun fungus. The flys leave spores from their mouths and after a couple of days & a touch of sun, it seems to dry harder than concrete.
I have tried using lemon and fly spray in the mix - too no avail. My scraper usually gets it off, especially with a new blade.
