Hi,
Am new to Forum and what a fantastic source of info and great site.
 Been at this business for 3 months now and lovin it,Just wondered what you guys do when it is raining,do you carry on as normal? obviously if it is pouring down would be different.
Another question,how do you approach dormer windows?? and slippy roofs etc:  if the roof is slippy even on a good day what do you say to the customer?

Depends on the angle of the roof! I am no way getting on a tricky roof, even if it's dry! Most of my houses can be done with a pole (6m unger pole)

I be honest with them when I first quote their house. Best thing. They completely understand it, and sometimes say, oh I'll do that one myself then! 

Not too experienced, just like you been in business about 3-4 months, but I know one thing, no window is worth being disabled for the rest of your life! You'll pick up a new customer, and you make 10-20 fold that window ( )

like GQC said, Its not worth going on a roof if it is too dangerous.
I just tell the customer i will not be able to clean that window today as it is too slippery.
Usually they will be fine. If they dont seem to happy, then i just drop a quid from the price.

Its worth losing a quid, and keeping a customer, especially if your new.

I would say well the roof is slippery but i will WFP the window anyway

So what about bad weather how does that affect window cleaning?

If your wfp it doesn't effect you much unless it's really chucking it down, though some might disagree. I work when it's raining and never had a complaint yet.
If your working trad then i think you might be limited as i found when i was. Maybe it was just me but found i kept leaving marks on the glass plus ladders became very slippery to the point where i just packed up and went home.
No point breaking your neck for a few £££

It really depends on how hard it rains, mind you...most of the time, the rain doesn't fall on the window itself,  it falls on you, so yea, you can clean windows in the rain. But can you last without getting soaked?
