Hi all.How do you all keep track of your round.I have the trial version of George at moment but I would like to know how you guys that dont use it layout your round book.Do you go in alphabetical order and have columns for date and paid etc?Or do you do it in round order.If anyone could email me an example page of theirs I would be very grateful.Thanks in advance.

Stick to GEORGE.  Some of the program is basic however it does the work and you just don't miss jobs.  What is annoying is that with the printed joblist for a day's work, you are unable, with ease to rearrange the jobs to the order you are going to be doing them.  Also ther is very little opportunity to amend the layout or content of Invoice construction.    After all that, it's still excellent value! ;D

I don't know what your computer skills are like, or how knowledgable you are with spreadsheets, I use Excel.

I designed my own, each days work is listed, it is a printable sheet with all relevent details, customer name, price and 2 columns where I can tick paid or collect, plus an auto total column under the prices.
It's easy to add to or delete from, once you have spent the time designing it, it is then a simple case of copying and pasting the template.
To one side of the round list I have the invoices for the accounts, as I have a commercial round, this bit is essential.
I no longer need to print out my work lists, I know them all by heart of course, so I just print the invoices. When I was contracting the work out I printed out the lists as well, then the guys working for me would simply fill out the form with ticks or crosses, idiot proof (it needed to be!)
Tried to copy and paste an example in here, shows the text of course, but not the design and pattern. didn't think it would though!!

Low Tech solution works best for me.

Diary - Week on two pages.
Left hand page with work to be done listed in area / job order. Ticked when done.
Right hand page, list of who hasn't paid, crossed off when they do pay.
Don't do collecting as no-one in when I go in evening (everyone in Fife commutes to Edinburgh these days ::) ) so usually leave SAE.

When area/job done, I put a note in the diary when it's next due.

This way I can see what work is due at a glance, and who hasn't paid up.

I know it's a bit old fashioned, but it works for me!

I've Tried computer stuff.  But turned out to be too complicated.  I've now gone back to the method Brian Dolby showed me about 13 - 14 years ago.

A list of customers Name, Address, Job and Price with a line space inbetween to add any new customers.
On the next page 6 columns (6 Months) then each time I do them I mark the column:-

/  = Done, not paid
O = Not Done
X = Done and Paid
When They pay just cross the slash

I put the date done in the column to give an idea how well I'm keeping up with the work.  The column looks a bit like this:-

28/5  /

28/5  X

        O
Mind you I do have the list in a Database and just printout a hard copy of the Roundbook every 6 months after entering in any new customers to the main database.
