Referral scheme
« on: November 03, 2006, 11:09:34 am »
Following on from the ebay voucher thread, I'd wondered about setting up a referral scheme. Eg if someone was to recommend your services to someone else they'd get a gift token/bottle of wine/10% off their next job/whatever as a thank you.

Has anyone done this and how do you administer such a scheme? How can the person recommending your services be confident he'll get his reward?

A week after cleaning i send 3 £10 vouchers to my customer, the voucher entitles the person using it to £10 off our services, but the customer cannot use it themselves they have to hand it out to freinds and family and with every voucher used i also put £10 on the slate for the person who gave out the vouchers for me.  I keep track of where the vouchers come from by writing the name and postcode of the original customer on the voucher.  Using the vouchers this way stops the original customer hording them all for themselves as they are useless unless handed out.  Its worked well for me so far.

How about this,
Get some vouchers printed up for "Free Stain Removal" normally worth £49 or £35 or watever you would charge.
You can then give these as rewards to customers who reffer you.

That way you kill 2 birds with 1 stone
You get a new customer :D and you get back in the house of a old one :D
Most customers wont let you clean for free anyway they will feel obliged to give you something, or will at least ask you to clean something else while you are there, so its unlikely you will leave empty handed.

You can also give these to customers who get there carpet protected, as it will give a larger percieved value for the protection so should make it easier to sell.

At the quote or once you have finished cleaning, you offer them the protection at say 50% of the cleaning cost, and tell them that with this protection they also get a free bottle of stain remover and a voucher that entitles them to a free "emergency stain removal" should they find something they cannot remove. Obviously it would be a idea to have a cut of date on the vouchers if your gonna use them like this.

And heres a link to some
