Fuel Cards

Anyone use them been contacted by these people

Some of you may not be too familiar with fuel cards, what they are, what they do, what they provide and what is the benefit?

A fuel card may appear to a simple plastic card but is a fully tried and tested method of purchasing all forms of road fuel through a network of high profile garages. These are used on a day to day basis by industry, commerce, haulage and the travel sector.

With these cards you will save money, on either a national or even a regional basis through a stable weekly fuel cost but much more than that you will receive clear and comprehensive invoicing providing details of your vehicles movements complete with timed purchasing and mileage recording. This can be used to reduce unauthorised fuelling and also improve a company's mpg [miles per gallon]. There will be a reduction in engine wear, a saving on fuel costs and improved costs in administration. Also in a world concerned with green house gases you can make a contribution by helping to reduce pollution and airborne particulates.

I have found that many small to medium operators of vehicles such as haulage, coach, LCV's and company cars need a cost effective, value for money service but are becoming increasingly dissatisfied with their suppliers. These companies are 'account managed' by impersonal, faceless people lacking the basics such as product knowledge, negotiation skills and even a personality! Add to these failings is the inability to get out and meet the client to discuss their companies' needs face to face.

My philosophy is simple; treat clients as people - even as friends if only in the business sense. Visit whenever possible, and if this is impractical because of distance or client time commitments then keep in contact by phone. Don't treat these as just another sale, look up to them because after all these clients are the lifeblood of any business!
