with a van mount system you have a large tank, say 650ltrs (so no changing drums over all day), you will usually have your filtration system fitted into the van as well with autofill controls to stop the water overflowing, can't see how any van system is really worth £4000 though.

Although there is the safety aspect, a securely fitted van mount is much safer than lying a trolley in the back of the van.

Enough of the silly replies, thread only just started and it has gone straight of course.

The topic is a fair one for discussion, keep replies pertinent please.

Lippy,

Its all about purchasing the type of system that suits your round (and expansion plans).

We have a 1000ltr van mount for commercial and 50 ltr Omnitrolley for our residential.

For us it would not be practical to use a small trolley or backpack for commercial as we often use the 1000ltrs in a day (thats at least 50 refills !!!)

Likewise IMO trailing hoses from a van mount for residential is risky (dependent on public walkways etc) and a nuiscence if your properties are not close together.  The trolley does 3 houses + (tops & bottoms) and is easy to manoeuver around  most of our property types.

We did not opt for a backpack as it would take too much filling doing T&B although if you do tops only it would be sufficient.

Buy with your future plans in mind but dont be oversold on any system.

Kind Regards,

Sarah

Ps  :  No difference IMO - do it yourself, we did asnd have not had anyproblems although it does not look as professional.

With a van mounted system the water tank is secured safely to the van floor and a pump sends the water thru the hose reel direct to the pole. You turn up at the customer, unreel the hose (up to100 metres in some cases) and walk the hose to the point of work. You will have at the same time carried the pole in your other hand.  Extend your pole, connect the hose and you are up and going.
With a trolley you will  have to remove the trolley from the van, ensure you have suficient water in your water barrels and push the trolley to the point of work. The trolley is self contained.
We started off with a trolley and after going all van mounted would never go back to a trolley.  Find the van mounted system easier and quicker.
The other alternative is a backpack for work away from the van.

There you go again, with your boot Ian Giles!

No need, the thread would have righted itself just as soon without you.  I was reminding Stuart@Skypole to stand corrected on his analogy.  Chris Cottrell would know his stuff, he used to work for Lotus.  Chris would have understood what I meant, and perhaps Stuart would too, that would have been enough to keep the discussion in context, so your comment looks even more unnecessary than Bear's.
Sometimes things will right themselves, and you don't always know what is being said.
Sorry mr mod, but you are not always the last word!

back on topic....

it seems to me that more and more are prefering a van mount and maybe a backpack for the awkward ones, the trolley idea is proving a bit ungainly, but you really have to work out what is going to suit the existing work you have, rather than purchase something for the work you hope you might get.
