Is a bill of quantities  the cost of materials used to do a job ? Would i need to give this as a breakdown for each item used or just a total figure ?

Julian,

What do you need a bill of quantities for?

I'm doing a quote for a commercial contract and they want a bill of quantities. Just need to know exactly what this entails.

I googled and found this link:

http://www.atkinson-law.com/cases/CasesArticles/Articles/Bills_of_Quantities.htm

Which seems to explain it all, but it seems more like a construction quote than a window cleaning one; but I've only cast a 'slanty-eye' over it quickly.

There's loads of other links too, if you google for 'Bill of Quntities' that might help also.
