Anyone Losing Commercial
« on: September 29, 2006, 05:24:24 pm »
Hi just got in from a days cleaning to open my post, lots of cheques(nice) then i opened a letter from the local co-op that I clean twice per month and clean sign once per month for £30.00.
The coop have now signed a deal with a national window cleaning company to clean all co-ops.
Thanked me for my services.
Hardly ever lose work(unless client moving areas)
Have any on here lost commercial to big companies?
Big boys mopping up again and contracting out to others for peanuts.
Not complaining as i picked up a large care home today but it still hacks you off after giving them a cracking service for 2 years.

Regards all Robbie - Clearshine - Harrogate

The other buzz word for it is "market forces" I have lost 4 banks, 1 coop, 1 boots, Ethel Austin (but I got this one back) 1 Kwicksave etc etc. I never got a smell of the "LOCAL" Tesco. They were dearer than me. But I think its down to just one ccountant somewhere that wants just one check to sign. The incoming "outside" firms also do the floors etc where there is money to be earned so they often do the windows as a "free"  then employ the local domestic workforce to pinch my job.

Thanks gaz,Geff.
This is one of the reasons I am trying to grow so quickly so I don,t get gobbled up by the big boys.
I think they will try to move into the residential market before long so working my tail off (marketing/networking etc.)
Thanks Robbie

The Domestic customer is a totally different ball game to commercial who just want things done by price, I honestly  wouldnt worry about it too much.
Some of the BIG boys are already on this site albeit under a pseudonym "Mick E Mouse" name so it will be interesting to see their response or lack of, to being  totally "shafted"

I did and still do 2 M&S stores for 14 years. But last August Rentokil took over every store in the whole country. But incredibly I kept the contract and now sub off them. I did have to take a paycut though.

Keep your eggs in lots of baskets and you should be fine. If you find yourself to reliant on one contract be careful as you can lose it.

I know you probably wanted to hang on to the work but why should rentoil make a profit out of doing nothing?  It sickens me to hear of things like this.
