Tony,

Door knocking is hard at first but once you do 1 or 2 and pick up your 1st job its the bo**ocks! Far more productive than a leaflet i promise you. Try and take a friend to canvass the same area to start with as its far easier with a little moral support. Good luck.

Hi Tony....I am like yourself and new starter and I deliver leaflets at the rate of about a 1000 per week....So far this has brought me 27 customers and another 3 quotes for next week...

I am finding that in the short term i.e around 2 days of the leaflet being dropped I get aprox 1 customer per 200 leaflets..now this is not fantastic I know...Doorknocking for me is not really an option at the present.

I find that aiming for targets helps me...in the end I do not really care how many customers I have....it is the hourly, daily and weekly numbers that count for me.

Leaflets do take time and it gets tiring..but it also gets me customers....If circumstances were different I would be door knocking as well. :)

Have sent you a sample leaflet via email.

Good luck

Hi pylofm,

Could you send me your leaflet as we drop one in if there is no one home?

Tony, there are many pro's and cons to either doorknocking or leaflet dropping. We have found over the years that leaflet dropping, on the whole, not always, brings in higher quality customers, as if they REALLY want your services, they WILL contact you. On the other hand doorknocking will tell you straight away if you are required or not. The trouble that anyone will have starting up now is that in the last 5 years Window Cleaning has become such a popular business to start up, that it is now harder to get those quality customers. Bearing that in mind, by the time you get to knock those doors, how many times have those people been bothered already by others doing the same!! Could get you some pretty p***** off responses, which then becomes soul destroying for you, whereas with leaflets they can either call or chuck 'em in the bin. I guess it is down to what sort of business you want to build, a "quick" probably loose 'em in 3 months business or a more quality one that may just last for years. Happy hunting however you do it ;D
