Not sure about total weights but ive been weighed a couple of times, the first was a while ago and was a similar experiance to what Dave has just said, I was weighed with the pasenger out of the van and once they had figured it all out was just on the limit but am convinced they forgot about my pasenger and would of made it over weight. but recently weighed my van with all tanks full including waste fuel's etc porty RX floor scrubber (battery powered) pasenger and various other clutter I was still under, I love having a big van, any one using a small van is just making hard work on themselves

Liahona I don’t know what book your reading from if at all your on the same page as me but in my book gross weight means every thing that’s in the van irrespective of who is driving or who is in the passenger seat it all counts as weight! I have fines to prove it.
Luckily no points on my licence just a fine and tug on my forelock.
On a lighter note though I make sure I empty my flask of tea before I fill my water tank, you cannot be to careful now can you.
Larger van you all say, not on your Nelly. My vans just the right size for the work I do

Dave, it wasnt a book it was at an actual weigh in as I was stopped. On a lighter note too. How can your van be the right size if you have fines proving it is too small. Just a thought. Best, Dave.

Read my post closely! The van I was stopped in was a RENO MASTER  2.8 short wheel base with a Hydramaster BOXXER 421 fitted.
My NEW set up is a FIAT SCUDO with a Pro-mount 20 more powerful machine but far far lighter in weight!
Thats how I managed to size down.

the police will look at 'all up weight' thats van plus all contents, EVERYTHING!!

best thing to do is get weighed,

otherwise you need to take 'all up weight' subtract wieght of van , thats vans 'wet weight' (with oil, coolent, fuel ect.) then left over will be weight you can put on van rember to include you and passengers,

trouble with that method you need to know weight of every item on the van and add up.

much easier get weighed and look where you are from 'all up weight'

Dave,
When your clean water tank is full and carrying all that is in your photo, are you still under the vehicles gross weight with yourself on board. I have the same van albeit a Citreon Despatch. I got pulled by the police and taken to the weigh bridge I only had half the chem bottles youve got on board but did have a Turbo Dryer in the back, however only half water tank full approx 30 gallon. I was 5kgs over, but was let off.

Dave.

I know this for a fact, if he leaves the house without his wallet he is just under the limit.

With it,  he is about 10 kg over!

Dave,
The all up weight for my van is 2330kgs,  with the water tank full (225kgs) it makes me 110kgs OTT, However I have had uprated rear springs fitted so it is not noticeable.
When I got pull last xmas they said they usually let 11% over weight go.
So fingers crossed I am well under what they are prepared to waver?
9 out of 10 times I am always late leaving home in the mornings so I am running on half a tank of fresh water thus making me gross weight.
But as Phil say's its the wallet that will get me every time ( I wish John at woodbridges would stop sending me money its playing havoc with the clasp on my wallet) ;D
