I think its time we got things in perspective a little with regard to the fed. Here are some facts:
The Fed is the ONLY professional windocleaners association. As such it is obviously an excellent source of trade info.
Commitee Members are not employed by the Fed, they give of their time and effort, and are only reimbursed expenses. I'm sure we'd all like to express our appreciation for the work they do, which is often behind the scenes, and is not for personal gain.
The European Work at Height Directve consultative document specifically mentions the fed, so it is clear they have had heavy involvement with negotiating the new regulations. As other countries have banned ladders completely, not just members but ALL window cleaners owe a debt of gratitude to the fed for its representation.
An Increase in Overhead is NOT necessarily a bad thing. For example, this may indicate a step-up in marketing activity by the fed. This is definately a good thing.
A large bank balance gives a great deal of flexibility. If the fed were to decide on a course of action (like increased marketing for example) its good to know that the resources would be there.
Annual subscription of about £50 a year is good value for money by anyone's standards. I know of no other trade organisation that has such small subscriptions.
Salary cost disclosed in the accounts is extremely moderate. No-one could accuse the fed of operating inefficiently with regard to staff. This must mean that a lot of work is put in behind the scenes. Well done to all concerned.
The Fed has subscribed to DAS legal assistance on behalf of its members. This may be little used, but it is a valuable add-on, and nice to know its there if we need it.
If you reply, please lets not have any rumors. Lets stick to Facts only as rumors dont do any of us any good
