I have always been frustrated with spinning sections of Gardiner poles so was open to an alternative. A fellow window cleaner said the Ova8 was shaped differently so it cant spin. Sounded good to me so I ordered a 25ft. My first mistake was taking him at his word but anyway.
I turned up and looked the part. I didn't however feel that the shape of the pole was as good as a normal one but I was willing to overlook that as it wasn't uncomfortable and if it didn't spin I would be happy.
Anyway two weeks in it broke. The section had slipped within itself. I rang them up and they talked me through fixing it (im not DIY inclined at a ll). Another couple of weeks later and the pole wouldn't collapse. I had to cut the pole hose to get the two bits in my van. At this point I rang them up and said Im not happy with it. They offered a new one or a refund. I opted for the refund. They have emailed me today saying they wont refund it as it's just wear and tear. Ive been using it for approx 4 months, 4 days a week (5 hour days).
A couple of other points.
The gooseneck gets stuck. It almost impossible to get off. I had to resort to putting boiling water on it to loosen it up, and it still took ages to get off.
They offer to fit a univalve but it costs a lot. I opted to do it myself. My mate managed to do it by putting the univalve at the base of the pole but had to file the univalve down to get it in. It promptly stopped working a day later.
The clamps also move from side to side. Tightening them is almost impossible.
The only decent thing was the brush.
In addition while trying to organise the refund they said they would call me the next day to process. Two days later and no call. I called them up and they said they forgot to book the call. Bloke didn't even apologise.
In the past Ive been rough with poles but decided to really take care of this one so wear and tear is nonsense.
Maybe others have had better experiences but just wanted to pass this on to avoid people getting in grief.
