RO problem
« on: January 14, 2025, 04:48:11 pm »
RO  filling up today....in winter usually averages about 100 litres an hour......today about 50 litres in 90 minutes....any ideas?
Pure Freesdom high volume RO with 20 inch RO  filter.......I'm thinking  main filter may be damaged by recent low temperatures even though garaged and covered.......too dark to check now.

My guess would be frost damage. When it is so cold for so many days I don't think covering your system makes much difference as the cold just seeps in.

I run mine overnight (300 gpd unit so makes pure slowly) and failing that one night I put an oil filled rad in the garage overnight just once when IBC was near full.

There is a change in tap pressure, coincidentally, according to the pressure gauge on the system  but it's up not down from about 40psi to 90 psi......plus I use a booster anyway to take it up to about 110 psi.
When I take the membrane out will the damage be visible?

Wouldn't hurt to replace carbon filter first as water production slows down considerably when carbon filter is near replacing time.

I last used it on 19/12/24.......filled up next on 13/01/25 and noticed it had slowed down......then started filling up this afternoon and was about the same flow as the 13th but when I went to van for something 90 minutes later it had only put in about 50 litres and on checking flow it was trickling in.....waste flow looked about normal......when I know I aren't going to be using system for more than a few days due to holidays etc I always flush it through with pure and leave pure in system.
