GARDINER SUPER-SCRAPER ABRASIVE PAD

So, I have just received and added these to my pole for the first time.

However when I received the pads it appears to me to be like some sort of upholstery filler or such.
Does anyone know what these pads are/made of?
I bet you can by it by the roll!

I bet you can by it by the roll!

Use a cloth type fabric that came as a protective material that was on a bed frame when I bought it. I cut it down to size for the main scraper and wrap an elastic band round it to secure. I wouldn't trust the plastic scraper itself to not scratch glass.
