What do you guys do, if anything, when not using RO for a few days, like a week or two week holiday......the notes with my new RO warns of the perils of leaving it unused for too long.

Never had a problem not using it for a couple  of weeks if away , just give it a 20 muinit flush before filling the tank  it will be fine .

Rubbish people will tell you m8 a few days I wouldn’t even bother to flush.

Was going to flush through some pure and leave pure in the system rather than just normal tap water if it helps but sounds like they are being over cautious in the instructions.

Yeah they are I treated an HF5 membrane with complete disrespect for 7-8 years + it was outside and it never let me down,it froze multiple times and much more and it was still producing 004 after 2 x 10” piddly pre filters lol don’t believe the hype m8.

It’s just if they’re allowed to dry out that they’re ruined.

I put some inline valves post membrane so I could leave the membrane with water in the system. I was away for the whole of May and when I returned I just flushed the system for a good long time and changed the prefilters (which was due anyway). No change in performance and still putting out 1ppm down from 180+ on the way in.

Yeah I’ve been on holidays for 10 days or 2 weeks before over the years and it made no difference,the RO always stayed full of water that had been pre filtered as it was just turned off at the outside tap no booster pump.
It never drained itself the water would flow down out of the tank when the water was turned off but it would fill back into the RO.

Booster makes a hell of a difference.......100 litres in 52 minutes.
