Sky VAc or Predator (gutter vaccum systems)
« on: November 27, 2022, 07:29:54 pm »
Bought a gutter vac 8 years ago.  It has just packed up and poles all knackered.  It lasted longer than the company that does not exsist anymore.  Have replaced the motors over the years.  Now need a new one and things seem to have got alot more expensive.  Is there a difference to some of the cheaper models from gutter vaccums systems at £900 compared to sky vac 85 at £3000.  Dont want to buy crap, but also don't want to pay 60% extra for brand name.  Cheers.  JAck

We’ve got 3 predators and work them hard.

My money is on GVS. We use everything but there poles.

Only issue we had was one motor burning out due to incorrect filter used.

We have a Skyvac interceptor , Grippatank numatic , and omnivac , the interceptor is the go to machine for bigger jobs as it’s petrol engine and amazing tool , I don’t have any GVS vacs but do use there yellow hose and swivelling connecter and there stuff gets good reviews  , Julia is very helpful and I would recommend her , Skyvac  customer service is amazing I would also thoroughly recommend them as well their stuffs not cheap but it’s very good the old adage buy cheap buy twice is very true .

Can I ask what poles you use? We’ve got 4 or 5 guttersuckers with the standard poles they came with, but they are breaking at a ridiculous rate. I bought a set of aluminium 51mm poles to test, but getting feedback that they are too heavy over a conservatory so I’m looking for some really durable carbon poles. I saw GVS  had a pricey set with clamps at about £500 and was tempted to give them a try, so interested in any recommendations.

I get mine from carbon fibre tubes - very tough and long lasting

As for vacs - I used omnivac for about 7 years - great bit of kit just a shame they went bust

After a long hard look at others on the market  all your getting is a (possible) converted standard vac at an inflated price so I brought an Hyundai vac for £300 put a side entry on the drum and haven’t look back 3 years on and still going strong

We use these, probably not what they’re designed for but i believe the grippatank v1 gutter poles were bases of this.

3 of them is perfect for a normal house. Never broke one or damaged one. I’ve stood on them and dropped from height by accident.

On ONE of the sections we use a down pipe from Wickes. I believe it’s 50mm diameter. That slides on perfect and then we use normal GVS Hose at the top we use Grippatank gutter vac neck.

We always wash them out but they are abused a bit tbh. One set is a good 6 years old I’d say.

Each setup has about 5/6 poles. The 4/5/6 sections done get used that often so we still use them to extend the 47ft extremes we have.

I’ve got nine of those sections I don’t use anymore.
I ought to sell them on really.
