I don’t know why people buy vans that are almost certain to give you grief all the people I know that have had Vivaros or the other makes that are the same vehicle,Trafic-Primistar have had nothing but problems clutches gearboxes at near enough the same mileage 35-40000 miles and gone on to have it happen again before they reach 100000.

The gearbox issue was about water encroachment rusting a part inside the box and it caused selection problems. This was caused by inadequate sealing on the underside so water was spraying up from the road.  They fixed it eventually but were slow to do so. I had a gearbox replacement at 28,000 miles - under warranty by a few weeks.  I had the van quite a while but scrapped it after about 130,000 miles as beyond economical repair. I felt some of the parts weren't up to standard. This was an '03 reg and I think they sorted some of the issues, but I would be reluctant to trust them again as it ended up on a recovery truck a few times. I had it from 2005 to 2015.
