Always have a spare smartphone....
« on: August 12, 2022, 02:14:08 pm »
My screen developed a fault this week(Samsung S21 ultra)so it's been out of action for 4 days.

Luckily I kept my old phone(s8+)and could just insert my sim card and stay connected...

I dont know about you guys but I use my phone for 30 things other than calls and texts....I have all my work on it  for the week as well as debt list, card payments,etc...

I haven't been able to access my online banking though as my bank doesnt allow its app on 2 phones...

It cost me £250 for a new screen including fitting....

I also restored my phone back to factory settings before I took it to the repair shop so I'll have to spend a few hours tonight sorting  out and installing apps again....

Its amazing how much we all rely on our smartphones these days....

ALWAYS have a spare in a drawer somewhere!

I keep a number of previous iPhones on hand for such an eventuality but so far, 11 years, I’ve not had to use them.

With the iPhone you can restore your primary phone from simply being in contact with your spare phone.
It senses its presence and just copies over all the files and apps. It’s very  clever and I expect that Samsung does something similar.

Smartphones can develop problems and screen issues because of air conditioning units.
I'm glad they included fitting in the price for the new screen, Daz. Some places do go that extra yard.

True I have 3 or 4 in my drawer.

I'm gonna get a tablet though for my new van and put cleaner planner on it.

Only because it has a built in tablet holder and it would be rude not to  ;D

Does relying on a smartphone for everything make the user dumber?

Possibly.
What I don't like about them is people knowing where you are all the time.
Daz has given me an idea though.
I'm going to leave my smartphone in a drawer and take my spare everywhere with me. I can then be in the rub-a-dub-dub but everyone thinks I'm in my sock drawer  ;).

Wouldn't have a 'smart' phone if you gave me one!
Can't stand the things.
On the train, bus, in restaurants, in pubs banging out stupid videos or tinny crappy music.
What makes people think that everyone wants to listen to their conversations, the commentary on some football game, or a cat video?

As well as calls/texts as per usual with a phone I use mine for loads of other things....

Work sheets/debtlists
Card payments off customers
Online banking
Social media
Cleanitup
Youtube
Porn
Paying bills
Online shopping
Music/radio/audio books
Camera/video
News/weather
Calendar/notes/calculator
Maps/navigation
NOW TV(football)
TUI holidays app
Email
Files for theatre tickets/bills etc
Watch(tracking heart rate/steps)
Ordering prescriptions
Ordering takeaway food and booking restaurants
Torch
Google pay using phone

There's probably others but these are the main ones....

I absolutely love my smartphone...its more like a phablet....I only use my laptop for the main cleaner planner site and printing off invoices these days...🙂
