george help please
« on: July 04, 2022, 04:21:35 pm »
hi thanks for reading, ive been using george since 2008 i have a 450 customer round ,me being the one worker.
ive noticed over the years when data is added to george it starts to work slower and takes longer to load on my laptop (all other procesess respond fairly quickly)lap top os now four years old.

recently george is taking up to an hour to load, when i have completed mywork it can take an hour to get to the place where it asks to back up to another drive (which i do onto an external hard drive)

im assuing due to the length of time ive been using geroge i have compiled a lot of data.

does anyone know how i can remove a few years data as i feel this will speed gorge up.
ive emailed paul at george but no replay.

any help appreciated as each evening is taking hours to sort my paperwork out due to george being ss slow
any help appreciated

I’ve been using George for 10 years . I have 2 rounds and more data imputed and it’s almost instant to start up. To backup maybe 5-10 seconds
Have you tried doing a data fix? You can find it on their website . It always sorts out any glitches for me

If you're using a computer from 2008 too, it could be that the computer is full and needs a defrag. Don't ask me how to do it though 😂

YouTube is full of suggestions on how to speed up an old computer or laptop.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QsuOb5IYgJ8

On a laptop, I found that changing the power options sped up the wife's laptop.

Under power options in the control panel, hers was set to save battery consumption. I set it to choose the performance setting rather than the battery saver mode.

There are lots of other little tweaks that will help such as going through the start up menu and removing programs you don't want to start when you boot up your laptop.

It could also be that you have a hardware issue. On an old computer I had one of the ram memory chips fail.
Success is 1% inspiration, 98% perspiration and 2% attention to detail!

The older I get, the better I was ;)

Back up your data, delete George, re install it, reload data

Go into your cache and delete all the cookies attached to your computer as that will slow it down big time and get rid of all the tracking add ons attached. Failing that go into settings and do a reset, that will free everything up.

if it took me an hour to load  up,  I would have assumed after 5 mins its a big crash, and hit the power button.

I was having problems with my laptop not long ago. I read that if you turn it on and off about 5 times in a row it will bring up a screen where you can do repairs etc
