Spring clean(dumping jobs)
« on: April 27, 2022, 08:38:37 am »
4 in the last week.... ;D...I've been guilty of holding on to jobs that I've been cleaning for 20+ years that are just no longer viable or are a pain or have turned into bad payers....

I've also got another 3 or 4 on my watch list who are getting that old and frail that they can barely make it to their front door to pay me,i also had a customer die on me owing 2 cleans too yesterday.

On the plus side ive picked up 2 new jobs(that I used to clean for previous owners)
price higher/work harder!

I have to say my last three underpriced, time consuming customers are elderly people in their 90's. One is a 99 year old lady who was a radar operator in the RAF during WW2 and her disabled 75 year old son.

The others are a pair of 90 year olds and the husband is losing his marbles, also a couple where the husband is dying and the wife half blind.

I haven't the heart to dump them or put their prices up. I've done them all since my ladder days. But nature will take care of it in the next year or so.   :'(
It's a game of three halves!

I love the ones with Alzheimers, I get paid half a dozen times in the same half hour.

I've had a few customers lose their minds over the years....I stop going in the end...it is upsetting to see esp if ive cleaned for them a long time....

I told a dumped ex customer the reason why I dumped him when he asked why Id not cleaned his windows a few years ago....dog crap in the garden, awkward access to the backs and very slow payer.....he sheepishly went in his house and didn't reply....he moved a few months later! ;D

I tell them that I'm scaling down my work and going part time now im 50(which is the truth)or that I'm struggling with a shoulder injury so I'm letting some work go(which is a lie)... ;D

I had one at 104 years old...semi priced at £12......was alright till she started giving me a £1 coin and holding her hand out for change.....did them twice then stopped.....she died 2 months later.
Impossible done straight away, miracles can take a little longer.

I'm weeding a lot out now that I've tolerated over the years. Not just doing what people want with scheduling and also just PITA jobs. New customers coming on every week anyway.
