Hi all my system as an automatic flush system fitted I’ve just posted about water production as I’m getting to much waste can I replace my gate valve with an adjustable valve so I can alter my water distribution ie more pure and less waist to suit thanks andy

Yes you can - it shouldn't matter to the system unless of course to close it completely

I love the pre drilled hole system - I found mine had worn badly after several years - I brought a new one from a plumbers shop and drilled a new hole through it - I have 2 now with differing size holes which I can change over to get better production in the summer or winter

On a Pure Freedom system less than a year old, production dropped to a trickle but changing the gate valve sorted it. In the meantime I’d bought a new membrane and a new pump.

I use a 2.6mm hole spring summer autumn and 2.2mm hole  in winter ( however this year was mild and production speed, waste ratio and TDS remained the same

Just be careful using a too smaller hole can give you really good results in terms of production speed and TDS short term but may bu@@er up the membrane long term (shorten its effective life ) - the above work best with by system - last membrane has been running a year at 130 Ltrs of pure p/h at 0.006 (from 320)

Alternatively a gate valve without a hole drilled in it. T section before and after with a "bypass". Fit a simple on/off tap to the bypass for production/flush and set the gate valve to desired ratio. This means you can tweak the ratio whenever you like depending on the season and water temp.
