What part of Soton are you?

Hi Jay, I’m hedge end!

Think I’ve seen some of your posts on Facebook before!

I'm Bursledon, You will most likely need to canvass outside of Hedge End is it's mostly covered by JRH and his boys

Yep, most definitely! I know one of the JRH lads, and if it’s not them, it’s Neptune.

I’m moving to Basingstoke end of July, so will be targeting around there thankfully

If you’re moving to Basingstoke I may be able to help you out by off loading a few hundred pounds worth of work.

I’ve been established here for over 20 years and have work coming out of every orifice currently.

Additionally, e-mail me your mobile. If I get enquiries I’m not interested in I can always give them your number.

To the OP, wishing you all the very best and hope you are successful.

When I started up I found the quickest way to get work was to knock doors. I know it's not everyone's cup of tea, but if you keep it very simple, you should do ok. I used to say this: ''Hello, my name is John, and I'm offering a window cleaning service locally. Would that be something you may be interested in?'' (All said with a genuine smile and in a relaxed manner). Await response. If it's a no, smile, thank them for their time and move on. If it's a yes, you're on your way!

I always favoured door knocking because you get to see your potential customer face to face, and they get to see whether you would be someone they give a chance to (or not).

If you're clean, dressed smartly and polite, it will give the most favourable impression of you, and could be the difference between getting that chance or being turned away. It's a numbers game, so the more doors you knock, the closer to the next new customer you will get.

A final tip: treat every door knock as if it's your first. If you get a knock back, just remember it is nothing personal, shake the dust off and keep going.

All the best,
John

Being diplomatic is being able to tell someone to go to hell in such a way that they look forward to the trip.

You can do a lot with online marketing. We use google adwords and it works a treat if you don't enjoy canvassing.
