So Ime assuming you don’t have poles , tools , spares in the van then They are all expensive items that could attract the wrong sort of person to take a closer look .

All these ones saying van doors left open is ok but should anything be stolen or damaged the insurance will be void  so just be  careful would  be my advice , I certainly would want to leave our vans open with everything on display .

thats the difference, you carry everything in the van extra poles poles etc... so if unattended I would agree would be a tempting propasition

I have all sorts in my van 50 lyre pure freedom trolley  backpack airmovers extensions for  pole upto 60 ft  anda small 12 ltre portable pressure washer. The list could go on I push the reel hose. Under the door gap and slamb the door shut and lock it even if Iam 5 ft away 
The Amazon delivery drivers and builders etc.     Cruze.  My area every day. You see them. Slowing down then looking in the windows inside the cab.    Looking for easy pickings     it's getting worse.

They caught 6.      In   A month through the ring go  doorbells.

No spare poles, they are home in the garage. Just a box with pliers, fuses, screwdriver etc. Then my trad gear, bucket and a bucket of scrims. Worthless to anyone else. Hasn’t gone missing in over 12 years now. Always keep phone and wallet in my pocket.

Looks like a north , south divide on this . Seems down south they leave there back doors  wide open .

I work out the side door of my van. For 95% of my jobs, this means I have a straight run, with the hose, to the back of the house.

It also means that the back of the van is not accessible; i've partitioned it. So I lock all the doors on the remote and just open the side door on the key, leaving the rest locked. It works well for me.
