4040 to Push fit ..??
« on: February 14, 2021, 03:22:52 pm »
Ok After my nightmare of my whole system freezing, I've insulated my pre filters di vessel and 4040 membrane with water tank insulating jacket/ wrap.
My next problem has been most of my plastic connections have cracked so my system is leaking from everywhere.
Has any body changed there basic hose connectors to John Guest fitting.
Can it be done.
For a 4040 system.

Anything under pressure John Guest is the way to go all my system is John Guest apart from pole to hose reel which will soon be changed also to John Guest,in freezing conditions John Guest will freeze if it’s out in the cold but the fittings won’t crack.
They are simple to defrost if they get frozen if they have warm water poured over them they defrost in seconds.

Just one ibc. Am about to change back to two pre-filters as advised by June at Gaps Water as I’m adding a booster pump. She said the draw on the fibredyne can sometimes collapse them. I will probably switch to 20” at the same time.

Yes.

A good place to start is JTM plumbing. Plough through their John Guest fittings.

In and out of your 4040 you'll need some of these: https://www.jtmplumbing.co.uk/john-guest-speedfit-c432/john-guest-speedfit-brass-fittings-c171/john-guest-speedfit-brass-male-coupler-p3324

If your fittings are 3/4" you'll need this as well to get to 15mm. https://www.jtmplumbing.co.uk/john-guest-speedfit-c432/john-guest-speedfit-fittings-c167/john-guest-speedfit-jg-speedfit-fitting-reducer-p3221

That gets you away from irritating 1/2" JG pipes to 15mm. The rest is just planning and clicking on their website. As far as I can see, JTM stocks every single JG speedfit connector. Buy lengths of straight pipe, not the coils.

Buy one of these: Looks like an extravagance, saves you so much trouble. There are pattern copies of this if you prefer. Don't buy the ratchet type. https://www.jtmplumbing.co.uk/john-guest-speedfit-c432/john-guest-speedfit-fittings-c167/john-guest-speedfit-cutter-up-to-22mm-p3548

Buy insulation from them as well.

Every time I've ordered from them the goods have been sith me the next day.

Good luck.

Vin

I prefer the 1/2” personally as they’re much more compact but I appreciate the 15mm is easier to get hold of locally & is more easily interchangeable with 15mm copper.
