Do what works for you. Personally I'd find lugging a trolley in and out for every job and filling it a ball ache vs van mount. Sure, as you say it's problematic for some jobs. I'd sooner just grab my backpack by the handle for those few occasions where it's quicker.

Thats the thing if were only a few occasions seems to be every other house cars parked all over the place. Hoses getting caught, problems parking.

We seem to be finding easier with trolleys . By the way there’s no lugging em in and out . We quite easily lift em out . I had the day off on Friday . My two lads worked tho . I asked em if they wanted the van with the reel mount and one trolley . Or the van with 2 trolleys . We’ll take the van with the trolleys , thanks .

I've always had vanmount systems diy, 2 grippatanks, pure freedom. Decided to try a trolley and it just seemed to work better.

Surely the beauty of a trolley, say the pure freedom trolley, is that you have the best of both worlds, you can easily set it up as a van mount and simply disconnect it when needed which takes seconds and then revert to trolly use. As long as you have the room for a tank and a few barrels in the van. There must be occasions on your round where a hose reel is a better option, this way you have the best of both worlds. I can honestly say hose reel is my preferred choice on 95% of jobs, I tend to use backpack for the other 5%. I use the trolly as a back up only these days.

I've  used  that  trolly in the past,never again,continuous  air locks when changing barrells but looks like you sussed that.
A backpack for me  was more convinient but each to their own.

When you change a barrel , simply turn the trolley off . Never get an airlock . We can do 3 or 4 semis . Or 2 good sized detached with one barrel . About 20 minutes compact work .

I went wfp in 2005.... van mount until 2016 then went back to back packs .
I just find it much quicker for my type of houses .
However my daughter works with me , so both have a back pack each filled in seconds from a pump in my tank.
30 ltres is usually more than enough on my average house {16 ltres each} using univalve .
I have spare back packs on hand for any problems .
each to their own I guess .
dont bother with putting the back pack on a trolley. my daughter is 10 stone and prefers to just carry also... { she has the choice of trolley}

I know of two separate firms . Both work with 3 in a van . All 3 work with a trolley . I regularly bump into one of em. We seem to hit the same area  at the same time . Definitely Works  well for them . Ive watched em and had a chat with em . They are fast , but not as fast as me .

Each to their own.....I dont use a trolley or backpack anymore for any of my work....for me theres no easier method than a van mount with 100m of hose...

I can understand if you have serious parking issues esp now as more people are at home but I dont have any work that's that bad for parking

A trolley works really well for most of my work, so well in fact than when talking to a friend recently who works with his son from a van mounted system, I was shocked to find that I earn around one third more on my own with my trolley than he and his son do combined.  They work lots of detached properties whereas I work mainly terraced properties on a large estate where parking is often problematic.

Personally  i would prefer to get rid of awkward parking houses rather than lug a barrel or backpack about.

All things being equal a van mount is quicker with an electric reel.

Granted there are occasions where the backpack or trolley is quicker but its rare.

I do understand what you mean cars can be a nightmare especially since everyones at home but nothing could ever make me go back to a trolley.

I used a Pure Freedom trolley for about a year and it was good. I did get fed up with lifting it in and out the van though.
I then developed tennis elbow and stripped down the trolley to build a van mount so there was less stress on my elbow.
Then I got fed up with the van mount because it didn't work effectively, so I stripped my whole van out and started again from scratch. Now I have a layout I am very happy with. Including using pole hose as my main hose.

Personally, I would rather drag my pole hose around 3 cars on a driveway, than drag a trolley.
If there are parking issues, I wouldn't want to drag a trolley down the street, I can't be bothered.
I have had parking issues and i've binned them off.  To be honest, I just want to turn up, clean, and bugger off!

I think trolleys are a great idea and do have their uses, but they're not for me.
