Hi Steve
I'd say that was up to the customer and no one else.
If the bloke hadn't turned up for 16 weeks and the customer wants them done regularly.......
Cheers

I always say, "Have you let your windowcleaner know you don't want him anymore?"
I would appreciate being notified if it was me.
If it's 16 weeks and she didn't have his number, well it's his fault. If she was worth it to him and he had genuine reason, he could have called her to let her know. I did that when I was off long term.

After 16 weeks i wouldn't worry about it.
If her w/c had had a problem then really in my book he should have been in touch if he wanted to keep them.
I've just taken some more work from another w/c just by a recomendation from a customer i have been cleaning for months now.
Apparently this couple of w/c's have been charging these customers and missing windows etc or not even cleaning them.
I still made sure they cancelled them before i started.
I charge more than what these other w/c's were charging and they are happy to pay as they are happy with the quality of my work.
I won't try and take work from others but if a customer isn't happy with their present arrangment then they are quite within their rights to change to someone else.
I always give my new customers my home and mobile number, my e-mail address and website address. I tell them that if there is a problem then to contact me, but if they are still not happy then they can look around for a different w/c and give me 4 weeks notice with no bad feeling.

16 weeks says it all!!!
The customer asked you, not the other way around.
If he gets upset walk to the customer with him and see what they have to say about it, if not tell him to be more professional and turn up when he is supposed to, if he can't at least let his customers know about it first!!
Onwards and upwards and don't worry about it.

After that amount of time I wouldnt worry about it, I picked up a customer while canvasing and must admit I didnt ask at the time if she had a cleaner, but when I turned up for the second clean there was an old boy doing it, I asked him what was going on politely and was prepared to walk away, then the customer turned up and went into a fit at him, he hadnt been for 4 months and had just turned up and started cleaning, and I worry because me car has had it and I'm 2 weeks late :
