hi all i have been asked to price a large apartment block up but a lot of the front windows have those fancy metal railings around them covering the bottom half of the window well doors actully just wondered if gaz's swivel brush is any good to to clean this & has anyone tried it or is it back to the ladder

Hi Bobby , i took pains over this too , just took on a load of residential homes with the same railings , i spent ages looking for a thin brush to cope with the job , i even cut it down to suit , i went to do the job last week and thought i would just try the 10" Vikan through the bars , it went through no probs , just try your usual brush first is my advice !

Hi bobby,although i don`t do any jobs with railings the brush is a lot slimmer than the vikan and with the tilt action on the swivel neck it will be a lot easier than trying to squeeze another brush through but like Rich says try your vikan first and if no joy give me an email for the swivel brush,Gaz

If you need to go thro railings you need the 1st axis joint of a vertical brush to be horizontal  and the secondary joint  to be vertically orientated. As opposed to what you need on a day to day basis which is opposite of above.

guys was wondering about a brush for railings, could gaz brush with the swivel head not be used and fit a screw  at the end and when you place it thru the bars a piece of string onto the screw  could be pulled to get  the brush up straight to clean the windows- only a thought

I have got some apartments that i was considering canvasing, but they have the perspex type shield that goes half way up the french doors, how do you tackle these , or is it a case of cleaning from the inside.

I think I may have 2 answers to the balcony railings problems.
Will try to post photos this weekend under new topic  "Water Squeegee" if I can remember how to get the pics from my camera to my pc etc.

Vikan do a very compact swivel brush it is 8" wide and has a locking swivel mechanism. It fits onto a residential screw thread so is easy to interchange.

Hello  Drew, one goes through the railings and one goes up and over.
If I assume a railing height of say 3ft/1metre ish  what is the width on the other side of the average railings you have, between the glasss surface and the railing ?

Hi D A,

I haven't tried it myself as I have found that all of the balcony rails I do I can just squeeze my standard brush through.

It has a 360 degree swivel on the neck and a locking collar which locks into each 90 degree setting.
