I have an old kleenrite edge machine that I am tidying up to use on grotty jobs such as Indian restaurants and fish and chip restaurant.

The pressure release valve is leaking and needs a new piston but in truth I was just going to by pass the valve and run it at a fixed 300psi.

Can anyone point out any problems this may cause with the pump, the machine will get infrequent use.

What pump is it?  The release valve on a pump protects the pump. The pump does not know what pressure it is supposed to be producing , it keeps pushing  until something gives,  the relief valve gives at a set pressure before the engine stalls are the motor blows a Fuse

You mean pressure switch on pump
If you bypass it should be ok there only there to protect the pump bushes
I have a prochem comanche  spare machine twin vac 130psi pump i changed the pump and put a one on that didnt have a switch and the only problem I had was changing tools I had to switch the machine off because there was to much pressure going through  to click tools on quickly to change I got a pressure switch fitted there not much but I could fit it myself anyway anyway pressure switch is there ti prolingcthe life of the pump so if your using it as a back up it should  be fine

Anyway mine was 130  or 150psi pump yours is bigger by the sound of it

I think it’s a 300psi induction pump, a lot larger than the 500psi in my ninja

Which does it look like? Only the middle one can run without a pressure release valve ( downloader)

First one with a blue pump head, bypassed the valve but there was too high an initial build up of pressure, and the pump started to struggle. This machine has a return to the tank and pre heat system through the inline heater to warm the tank before you clean.

By going direct to the outlet ( the female connector where the hose connects caused too much presure
) and by bypassing the presure relief valve and going through the bypass there wasnt enough pressure at the wand tip .

I know a lot of it probably makes no sense but I think the crooks of it is I need to replace the pressure regulator.

First time I have stripped one of these down.
