I got a reply back:

Hi Simon,

I don’t see how it can be reducing the life of the second unless you have bacteria growing in the first tank over wise it wouldn’t make any difference  - resin has a set capacity once its met its depleted the only way to shorten its life is to introduce more impurities into the water as long as that doesn’t happen the life of the second resin vessel will not be effected.

Kind Regards

June

If you use an RO and a single DI vessel once the resin gets above 0 (or whatever you decide your upper limit is) it is no longer any use for cleaning windows.
If using two DI vessels once the resin in the vessel goes above 0 you can still use it to purify water until it equals the TDS of the water out of the tap, in my case about 100.
That water then goes into another DI vessel with new resin until it goes above 0 then we start again!.

Yes. That’s what I’ve been doing.

So I’m not shortening the life of the resin in the second vessel.

But in my case the resin outa the 1st vessel is usable up to the tds outa the ro.
