I've got phone call from old guy. It's been with me few months, old polite classy mate.  When I took him on board I've explained fed pole systems benefits etc and assured if you have any questions or anything just give me a call.  And then this.
He called and start to yelling "it's not a windows cleaning and I don't want such thing around my house, i could wash my car like this" I've said that's not the first time that we used this and if you could let me explain and get back to you..." "I don't want this around I will pay you online and don't come back"
To be honest I was bit surprised how dumb and disrespectful people still could be and I thought I eliminate all "no wfps customers" but seems to be never ending story :D
Keep up with good work and customers who appreciate your effort .

This was very common 10 years ago.

Thank god its now a rare thing. So don't waste your time even trying to explain.   If he does not get it now he never will and will take his attitude to his grave

The famous line on here is; technology changes over time - I'm sure your wife doesn't use a wash board and a roller ringer does she? No, I'm sure she uses an automatic washing machine.

We cleaned a middle aged couple's home for 4 years. We collected every Friday evening after we cleaned and they were always very pleased with the results of our service.
Then we cleaned them when she was at home. She came out as we were leaving asking if we were going to leave the windows wet and not dry them.

We have always left them wet and they have dried to the standard you have been happy with these last 4 years.

Well, I'm not happy you are cleaning them this way now. I haven't got any money but Stuart will have it on Friday as usual. We got paid and dumped.
Success is 1% inspiration, 98% perspiration and 2% attention to detail!

The older I get, the better I was ;)

We are also considerably quicker with WFP than with trad tools and this is sometimes another bug bear with customers.

I was fiercely chastised by one of my older customers recently due to this. It was a monthly maintenance clean that I've done for about five years. The front of his 2 up 2 down mid terraced house is the end one of three in a row that I clean with no fences between them and as a consequence they are unusually quick to do even without rushing.  Apparently his daughter was visiting on the previous visit and commented how quick I was, so he timed me the next time. He got in a right old tizzy, swearing and all sorts. This old chap is normally a friendly old soul, but not this day!
It remains to be seen what happens next month.

Usually it's when people see how much quicker wfp is they  take umbrage.  A quick bit of mental arithmetic gives  them an idea of our hourly rate and they can't see past that. Technology is there to make work easier - would they still use a hand drill or American driver for woodwork or pine cones to predict the weather?  :-\

I dont care if they can add up my hourly rate they pay me so I can provide the service, pay all of my overheads and make a profit it they can't work that one out then jog on and employ some uninsured numpty to do their windows  ;D

In my Trad days some of my customers would ask me if I was doing window cleaning for a bit of extra pocket money

I had a chap last week ask me how I worked out the price for his windows as his friend only pays such and such! I just waffled and basically told him that was the price take it or leave it! 🤨

I had a text today. Been cleaning their windows for 3 years.

Hi Bungle, I'm so sorry about this but the dogs get so agitated when you come, and then they are upset all day. I think we're going to have to discontinue the window cleaning. My apologies- it's nothing to do with the service.

I replied with....poor dogs. I hope I haven't caused them too much distress. Thanks for your previous business.

I'd have loved to have replied with 'tell the fecking dogs to man up then' but thought better of it 😀
We look at them, they look through them.

The dogs won’t be the reason I reckon, some people just can’t bring thereselves to tell you they either don’t want a window cleaner anymore or can’t afford it.
