Hi Lads. As my supplier of pure water rise up prices by 100% I need to get purifying system by the end of week. I know it's been said many times but does anyone would simply explain me differences between those two systems? Price difference is massive but is it worth buying more expensive system?

I know what I need and I'm going to have 300GPD system but just want to be sure which going to last longer.

The only real difference I can think is there will be a variation in the quality of membranes vs price you pay.  I've only ever used a 4040 so can't really offer advice on the smaller units. The tds of your tap water and pressure of your supply is going to dictate the efficiency and lifespan of whatever you buy. 100 gpd membranes are cheap to replace though. Do you know any local cleaners with same set up ? It would be worth getting real life figures on speed and quality of production to help you decide on what system is going to fit your needs.

My friend got the more expensive ones and he recommend them too as eBay seller us trusted and recommend but I can see really a reason to pay half more for the same.

If a price is too good to be true or appears too cheap compared to the averages, then trust your gut

Pending your tap flow/pressure you will need a booster if low. These things work best with a psi of 75 or higher. 
Pending your tds input n out put after the RO, you may want to skip the small 10inch filter for DI and replace with a 5ltr or bigger DI vessel as your resin will last longer. However my output is 006 and I dont use any resin.

See your point. The cheaper should still do the job. Essentially all the same hardware. The membranes maybe of a lower quality or no difference. If cost is an issue I'd be inclined to take a punt on the cheaper unbranded offering. At worst you may need to replace the membranes 6 months down the line but that's no biggy as they don't cost a lot. You'll have the usual ongoing costs of replacement pre filters and resin anyhow.

The difference I've notice is the cheap package got only 2 pre  filters and the third is resin while the more expensive one got 3 pre filters and separately the resin. Tds shows 100-140 in my area so what would you recommend? Cheap one?

Collins water use cheap Chinese manufactured membranes which don't perform as well as the more expensive US manufactured ones. They also need a higher water pressure.
In the end the cheap one will end up costing you more (shorter longevity and increased resin use). So you get what you pay for. I have no axe to grind with Collins Water.

And remember, just because it says its a 300GPD r/o doesn't mean that it will produce 300 gallons of pure water a day.
A day is 24 hours and  a gallon is 4 liters as its an American gallon.
In our experience a 450gpd took between 28 and 36 hours to fill a 1000 liter IBC tank  depending on the temperature of the tap water.

If you process water into a 1000 IBC tank, as most of us do, then a 300gpd will be enough to keep you in water. One of the local lads uses a 300gpd. When he has someone working along with him he puts his booster pump on to keep up.

I fitted an solenoid valve and a float switch into my tank so I could just let the r/o process water without my supervision. When the tank was full the water to the r/o switched off. That might be at 4am in the morning.

I am the first to say I was very concerned in those early days as that IBC tank took a whole weekend to fill  up. But once it was full though it gave us it gave 2 of us enough water with a bit of planning using a 450gpd with a booster pump.

I'm thinking to  do  all upgrades as you got soon but jest need to solve the main problem which is a lack a tap in garage and already booked friend who is plumber to do it. I'm working with my missus and I'm pretty sure in those short days will have enough water. Once again massive thansk for help.
Edit. Good advice with booster pump. Might buy it and install just in case.
