Van flooring options
« on: March 27, 2019, 08:21:04 am »
I've just bought a new Partner van but want to put a decent flooring down like checker plate or rubber flooring to protect floor!
I have tried Protecta coat on previous vans but after a while it ineffective!

I just use the anti fatigue foam tiles from Halfords , easy to cut , fitted or removed in seconds , spills just roll right off
I'm so lazy I'm getting tired of it !

Hi,

I would never paint a van floor again or pay £500 for Speedliner. Have tried both in the past and wouldn't do it again. Just place a rubber mat in the load area of your van.

Buy a large tin of Protectacote it’s about 100 quid I did mine over a weekend,I prepared the floor and gave it a coat on the Saturday gave it another on the Sunday.
The preparation side you don’t need to go overboard with it just needs scutching up with coarse sandpaper,or you could just buy those foam tiles 😂 😂 don’t do that will you.

Nothing wrong with the foam tiles , they protect the floor perfectly well  with insulation to boot
If your system don’t leak the van doesn’t get wet does it  ::)roll

With WFPole you will get water on the van floor end of story whether you like it or not at some point,I’ve had foam tiles in the back where I store boxes with read gear in.
When you have a spillage and you will have one they will get wet and stink.

I dont know.
A good while ago I was told i shouldnt use carpets with using wfp due to leaks etc etc.  I totally disagree.  If youve plumbed properly and you are careful, then you shouldnt have any leaks.
Ive got a rust patch due to the underside of the trolley i use. But as of yet the van doesnt smell of wet dog either.

Mine must be special ones then as they have been in over 6 months  and still smell as new
But then I never spill or leak , what comes off the brush head gets mopped up as I go , I must be one of those OCD’ers 🤪

I got a bit worried when the OP said protector coat wasn't effective yet u have mentioned its fine with you.some of the popular companys use protector coat that ill be using perhaps its how you apply it my heart would sink if it leaked.

These rubber matts seem logical being rubber wont leak do they sell them for all vans?

At some point in a WFPole van the floor will get wet just have a few hours one weekend coating it,you’ll be glad you did.
If you’re leasing a van for a few years I would just get a tailored rubber mat for the back but if it was mine to own I’d protect it from water with speedliner or Protectacote.

I had my last van, VW Caddy, for 4 years, got LINE-X (exactly like speedliner) done when the system was installed by Ionics.  Can't remember exactly how much it cost, think it was about £450.

When I came to sell the van, the floor was PERFECT.  Not a single mark, honestly it looked like brand new.  It had protected so well and that counted towards the re-sale price, so I would say it paid for itself easily.  I'd highly recommend.

So, when I got my new van a year ago, I didn't hesitate, I got LINE-X again.  It was a bit more expensive, about £550 I think (bigger van - Toyota Proace).

So my advice, get LINE-X and not only will it protect your floor amazingly well while you use your van, but when resale time comes it will probably pay for itself.

It has to depend on what curtains you have in the van, surely.
