Wow! I wonder how they manage to make that isopropanol not effect TDS! Must be working hard in the lab to sort that out.

Apparently, according to a bit of research, It doesn’t leave any spotting at all.

I might try some in a backpack on my own house first. No way I’m shoving it in my 750l tank till I know for sure

I apologise..... I thought this was a sarcastic post! Mayb it still was? Haha.

Isopropanol has been used by many over the years, some swear by it. It has a TDS of 000 itself so doesn’t effect TDS.

It bubbles up a little bit, some feel it cleans a little bit better. But you do need a lot of it to prevent freezing water. Litres of the stuff in your main tank.

I think I would probably go with this indicator before believing WCW's description of its super powers.

So according to this chart, protection from 0 to -4 degrees needs a 10% dilution rate of Iso to water. So you would need 60 liters per 600 liters of water.

60 liters compared to 1 liter is a lot of liters cost wise for between a day and 2 days work.

In all the cold we have had over the years I have never once had ice in my tank. If I was a newbie I would probably gets sucked in believing this rubbish and swear by its use every year. It must work as my tank has never frozen up.

If pouring into water would it not float around the top unless mixed, if so then it might stop ice forming on the top.

I've put it in my tank years ago to try some bullpoop I read on here along with many others ideas like a drop of ecover but skipped the snake oil!

If like me your Di is after the tank then the word is it'll "strip your resin".

At ten percent dilution per volume you would need 60 litres per 600 ltrs of water.

What a load of rubbish one ltr will not stop 650 ltr from freezing  you put 2:5 ltr of antifreeze in a cars cooling system and that only holds around 10-15 ltr  some people are so gullible and wcw shouldn’t be giving out false info either

Perhaps the strength is less with car antifreeze, not sure but it think antifreeze doesn’t contain isopropanol. I’ve never been one to buy snake oil products, but if this did genuinely help keep frozen hoses away, then why not. As said though, I’m not going to be the first to try it 

Spruce, to me, I’m not worried about the tank freezing (tank always freezes from top down so completely irrelevant to me), but I did wonder if it would help keep the hose from freezing up if not using a hot system.... that’s the only advantage I can see, and, if it worked, it’d be a good product. My guess is, it wouldn’t work!
