Guttervac restrictions?
« on: March 05, 2018, 12:15:15 pm »
I am after some advise regarding guttervac use and their restrictions.  I advise designers (architects/engineers) on CDM duties, reducing risks, as part of this is cleaning and maintenance strategies.

A client of mine is currently proposing a gutter which will be concealed.  It is proposed to use a guttervac system from the ground to clean and maintain.  The ground level will vary, but generally two storey (in region of 5m), the gutter opening will be approx 300mm set back from the roof edge with a 100mm gutter opening.

Are products on the market which would accommodate this with no problem or should I be pushing for changes in the design?

I am keen on meeting and discussing all access and maintenance providers understand access restrictions in order to better inform designers regarding MEWP use, reach poles (internally/externally), guttervacs etc as a potential CPD.  Look me up on Linkedin and message me if you are keen.

Many thanks

We actually make gutter cleaning equipment, we also clean gutters. We have recently cleaned a school which has exactly the same gutter set up ( we do it regularly).
We made a head which reaches over the span and easily reaches the gutter. You will need a regular clean, because there is no fall in the gutters and you get a build up of mud. We do this job every six months with no problem.
