When I  do my few insides I  charge, 1.5 x outside.

I only have 3 jobs, that I do insides, done regular, no nets or ornament craziness.

I use to do more insides but got fed up as even if asked customers didn't remove nets or clutter off sills.

Had quite a few regular in/out monthlies over the years but always end up dumping, customer starts off Great but by 6+ cleans goes pear shaped😖

They always move the goal posts.
Schedule, agreed times, cancel, skip cleans etc.

The biggest problem for me is the rigidity of it all, as it's an appointment, only do now if it's the first job of the day, otherwise I don't want to know!

Don't want to organise my day around a customer.

I think there is a saying:" There's no grief, like you give yourself!"

I know it shouldn't, but it bothers me when a customer wants insides done asap but they have the insides done every 2+ years.

These are the ones I charge 2x outside but really try my best to steer them into investing towards a karcher window vac 😁

Did think of having insides done on bad weather days only.

e.g. Have a list of customers and phoning through it when weather bad.
But find customers only want done same time as outsides 😐

Also the only one that's flexible is me 😁

THATS WHY I REFUSE INSIDE CLEANS THESE DAYS LEE!!i cant be arsed with them...... :)

I don't like going into folks houses but if they seem decent and it's not a clutter I'd say 1.5x the price.
Those that do are you cleaning the frames as well?

of course - its half a job otherwise

Darran
Some of the houses I do I wonder why they have the outsides done as they're filthy inside, kitchen window is matted, lounge full of hand prints and I can only assume the frames haven't been cleaned at all since they were fitted. Before I would say to them it's double for insides as I would clean the frames and generally bugger off before they asked me to do them! but I'm thinking of saying 1.5x and just cleaning the glass. I'm not comfortable going into their houses so if I just cleaned the glass it would speed things up for me to get out!

If you don’t at least offer insides imo you are half a WC you should at least offer it,if I didn’t do insides I’d lose a lot of profitable work.

0x

I don't get involved in it.

Done it a few times. It's not for me. Too much faff and a pain in the bottom.

Hahahahahah Half a window cleaner? never heard such nonesense!

Some people like to do inside cleans, some don't. It doesnt make you half a window cleaner.

hahahahhahahahahah

Hilarious

I do inside windows because i choose to and as i started out trad back in 2003 it keeps my skills honed. But to say someone is half a window cleaner because they choose to not clean insides is the most idiotic thing i have ever heard!

I'm a window cleaner:

If custy wants the inside patio doors doing or a kitchen window doing: it's a cuppa tea...milky, two sugars!  That's my going rate.

If the whole house needs doing,  then it costs more than just the outsides, possibly 1x5 times.

I'd be embarrassed to say I couldn't do the insides...if that's what my custies want, then that's what they get...for a price!    ;D

ive cleaned inside pub windows covered in nicotine(little georgian windows too!) for years when smokers used to be able to light up indoors, ive waited around for customers to come home so i can clean their inside windows(after arranging a set time) ::)roll

...i also used to clean the  inside windows of a posh country  house (where prince edward has stayed) and been accused of stealing some family silver(there was a LOT of tradesmen working at the property at the time, builders, plumber, electricians, etc) ::)roll

....so ive done my fair share of inside window cleaning....
price higher/work harder!

Same as Darran but i get them to clear everything off  ;D

Trad for 10 plus years and wfp for 7 years.

Trad doesn't take any longer? Love to see you do real Georgian windows trad in the same time as wfp ;)

I've got Georgian Windows on my own house, the ones that open I wfd,a close when dripping stops,I get excellent results and saves time,
Don't think a customer would be happy if I did the same for them

That's maybe where you are going wrong.

"I'm a window cleaner"  so you have a sense of pride at being a window cleaner and you just clean all windows whether you like it or not because you are a "window cleaner" and if you can't do it you are made to feel an inferior window cleaner which hurts your ego.

That's fine, that's great.

I don't carry that same ego attached to being a window cleaner. I don't see myself as a window cleaner, I'm a human being who although happens to clean windows can also do whatever else I want or don't want to do.

Personally I don't like breaking my stride when I'm out, I don't like stopping for a coffee. I like to get to property, hose out, clean, note through door, next. Bang, bang, bang.  :D doing insides I have to get all hear out, tread carefully round someone's house etc, oh and if they are not in them what reschedule at a time convenient to them ? No chance.

I never do what a customer wants, I didnt get into this to be dictated to. I work how I want to work. The amount of times I've been asked to come on certain days, collect, jump over garage roofs etc...no thanks I don't enjoy it, it becomes a pain. Anything that I don't enjoy I don't do, I spent 15 years working in warehouses and dead end jobs being told what to do and doing things I don't enjoy for the money. Not anymore.
