Do pumps deteriorate?
« on: February 07, 2018, 03:25:39 pm »
Firstly I have a 2 pump setup.
1 pump works fine but one of them pumps the water out very weakly.
The question is, can pumps like my second one be improved? Do they either work or not work and thats it?

Thanks.

Its difficult to quantify your question.

Everything deteriorates after a while, from your pump, to the van.

Can you elaborate on your question?

Do they both run from the same battery ? if so the battery might be the problem.

Could the weak one have an air lock in it or could air be getting in on the supply side of the pump. Both scenarios would also cause poor flow

Mine did so I bought a new one! Flow was on 70 with fan jets but was so slow, it looked like pencil jets!!

Hi, I use separate batteries and have swapped them to check if that was the problem (it wasnt)
I have undone all hoses etc and reassembled but to no avail!!
I have replaced the brushes and pressure switch also but no joy.

I have been using the same Surflow pump for 15 years with no problems, apart that is from often changing the varisteam pressure setting to match the working temperature. Water gets a lot thicker in cold weather.

Do you have external shurflo filters (or similar)?

Is one of them blocked with gunk?
